Have you heard of Rohingya peaple? Rohingya
is a minority race in Myanmar. They have been suffered in some reasons in that
country.
Myanmar(Burma) where Buddhism is the major
faith, consists of many nationalities and Rohingya is one of them. They are now
discriminated and even cutting off from access to medical service because of
religious reason. They are Muslims.
We generally think Buddhists are moderate and they love peacefulness, but in Myanmar, they protest on the streets to kick out Rohingya and kick out Muslims in their country. So about a million Rohingya is getting out of Myanmar, and heading to neighboring countries, floating on boats. They all became refugees, avoided and rejected.
Children
are killed by malnutrition and diseases, women and girls are being raped, men
are massacred. Every horrible thing is being done to these people on earth
right now. However, Myanmar government and Aung San Suu Kyi the president of
the country as well as a Nobel Peace laureate, are doing nothing just turning
their face away from the situation which can be called genocide in their land.
A columnist of The New York Times visited
Myanmar and asked a boy from Buddhist region, what if he saw a Rohingya child.
The 13 year old boy answered he would kill him. And he asked Muslim children
what they would do if they encounter a Buddhist boy. “Hack him,” said the 8
year old child.
What are the religions for? It seems people use them to justify killing
people, hating others. They might not know the true meaning of religion seeing what they’ve done.
Religious faith is not supposed to be the reason for doing such evil things,
but good things for instance, love, sacrifice, share and so on. We should help
Rohingya first and then need to think of the function of those religions which make
people kill each other. If we cannot understand and embrace the differences
between religion, we’d better give up having one I think.
I enjoyed your reading.
